Free to park, and the water is metered. That split is the normal German arrangement: standing costs nothing, the machine charges for what you fill and empty. Carry 1 and 2 euro coins, because plenty of these machines still take nothing else.

This is a Wohnmobilstellplatz, a spot set aside for motorhomes to park, run by Stadt Hitzacker. The record gives 25 spaces, so it is big enough that you are unlikely to be turned away outside peak weekends.

The posted limit is 24 hours. German Gemeinden do enforce these, usually with a Parkscheibe, the blue parking disc you set to your arrival time and leave on the dashboard.

On site: drinking water, an electric hook-up and a waste drain. Nothing is recorded either way about toilets and showers, so do not count on them.
