What it is like to arrive here.

Free to park, and the electricity and water are metered. That split is the normal German arrangement: standing costs nothing, the machine charges for what you fill and empty. Carry 1 and 2 euro coins, because plenty of these machines still take nothing else.

This is a Wohnmobilstellplatz, a spot set aside for motorhomes to park, run by Hansestadt Wipperfürth. The record gives 5 spaces, so it is small enough to fill up on a summer weekend.

The posted limit is 4 days. German Gemeinden do enforce these, usually with a Parkscheibe, the blue parking disc you set to your arrival time and leave on the dashboard.

On site: drinking water, an electric hook-up and a waste drain. Recorded as not here: toilets. Nothing is recorded either way about showers, so do not count on it.

Opening hours on the record read 24/7. Winter is the thing to watch in Germany regardless: water points on open-air sites get shut off over the cold months because a full pipe freezes and splits, so from about November assume the tap is dry even when the parking is open.
