Near the salle polyvalente on Avenue de l'Oeuvre Louis Conlombant, formerly Route de Junhac. The commune's page says there is a turning area on site. Pitches are individual and grassed with a low hedge between them.

03 · The write-up
What it is like to arrive here.
Eleven individual pitches on the edge of a Cantal village, run by the commune, with toilets and showers built to be accessible to wheelchair users. The commune of Montsalvy documents the aire on its own website, and that page is where the current terms live.
That page is worth reading for one detail in particular: the service borne is closed over the winter while the aire itself stays open all year. Read that as the working assumption for the whole of upland Auvergne.
What is actually here
The commune lists individual pitches, each on grass and bordered by a low hedge, plus a turning area, picnic tables, a fresh water fill, a chemical toilet drain, a grey water drain and waste sorting. Toilets and showers are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Toilets, showers and a waste disposal point. No electrical hook-up, so run on your own power. The commune’s own page lists a fresh water fill, so a top-up should be possible in season.
The commune publishes no tariff on that page. If a free night is load-bearing for your trip, call the mairie before you commit to the detour.
Where it sits
Montsalvy is in the south of the Cantal, in the Châtaigneraie, which is the lower, greener chestnut country on the way down toward the Lot. The commune describes the aire as a few meters from the village center, near the salle polyvalente.
This corner of the Cantal is a long way from a motorway and that is the point of it. It is also a long way from anywhere else, so plan the day around the driving rather than the distance. Roads here are ordinary two-lane departmental roads rather than alpine hairpins, and a motorhome is not out of place on them.
Altitude and season
The aire is listed as open all year, with the service borne closed over winter. That distinction matters more than a closure date. You can park here in February; you should not expect to fill a fresh tank or empty a grey one while you do it.
The Châtaigneraie is not high alpine country, but the Cantal as a whole gets real winter, and the plateau roads above the village are exposed. No closure dates are published for the borne, so fill up lower down before you climb.
The rule that applies
The commune owns the aire and sets the rules for it. The national position on sleeping in a vehicle is on our French bivouac rules page, and what an aire actually is covers the category. Neither beats the sign at the entrance or what the mairie tells you today.
Before you rely on this
Read the commune page linked below. It is the authority on this aire, it is the place any change will appear first, and it is the only source that will tell you whether the borne is running when you plan to arrive.
