No price is published. Bring coins and read the board at the entrance: an Italian comune can put a machine on a free area without updating its website.

This is an area di sosta, a stopover set aside for motorhomes, at Santa Sofia. Ente Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi documents it, and the comune is the one that sets the rules on the ground. The address is Pian dei Fangacci, SP 94 “Castagno”, presso il Passo della Calla, 47018 Santa Sofia (FC).

No services are listed either way. Arrive with a full water tank and an empty waste tank, and treat anything you find on site as a bonus. An area di sosta promises somewhere to park. It does not promise water.

The posted limit is 72 hours. Italian comuni set this by ordinanza and they do enforce it in season, so treat it as the real number rather than a suggestion.

Overnight stay is allowed only for vehicles with self-contained toilets and waste holding (“muniti di autonomi servizi igienici con raccolta degli scarichi”). Free camping with tents, caravans and campers outside designated areas is prohibited in zones 2 and 3 of the park.

Sul territorio del Parco sono presenti numerose aree di sosta, dotate di panche e tavoli e spesso di fornacelle, a disposizione per i visitatori dell’Area protetta. Inoltre esistono specifiche aree adibite alla sosta dei camper, in alcuni casi attrezzate per lo scarico (camper service).

That comes from Ente Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi’s page, read on 2026-07-22. The sign at the entrance and the comune’s current word beat this page, every time: an ordinanza can be rewritten between one season and the next, and nobody sends us a copy.
