An área de autocaravanas, a motorhome stopover, at BU-570 junto al Ferial in Espinosa de los Monteros, in Burgos province. The Junta de Castilla y León classes it as an área pública, the label it uses for a town área rather than a private one or a pitch inside a campsite. Nobody has published a price for it, and small Castilian áreas are commonly free to park with a coin meter on the water, so bring coins and do not assume it either way.

The register gives the location and nothing else. No capacity, no stay limit, and no list of services, which means there is no published answer on whether the water is running, whether there is a drain for your tanks, or how many nights you can stay. Turn up self-sufficient, fill the tank before you need to, and read the sign at the entrance for the limit, because on an área this size the sign is usually the only place the limit is written.

Burgos province is the northern meseta rising towards the Cordillera Cantábrica, and it freezes hard in winter. Distances between towns out here are long and fuel stations in small places close on Sundays, so plan the leg rather than the stop.

What you may do on the street in this town is set by its own ordenanza municipal, not by any regional rule, and Castile and León’s camping decree says nothing about motorhomes either way. In practice that means the área is the safe option here and the street is not, and where a posted sign or the ayuntamiento’s current word differs from this page, they are right and this page is out of date.
